Lawn Size Calculation Tool

How big is my lawn, measure the area of your lawn. Include these measurements on a sketch of the lawn area with the length, and width. Listed below is a tool that can calculate the square footage.

Square Area = L X W
Rectangle Area = L X W
Oval Area = 0.8 x L X W
Trapezoid Area = ½ (LA + LB) x H Triangle Area = ½ B X H          Circle Area = 3.14 X R²

An example dividing the project in to squares and rectangles:

Area 1 Length x Area 1 Width
Area 2 Length x Area 2 Width
Area 3 Length x Area 3 Width

Core Aeration: it's a great way to improve the quality of your turf, and it's important to make it part of your regular turf-maintenance plan.  It's a mechanical process that creates more air space in the soil and promotes deeper rooting, thus helping the grass plants stay healthy. In most cases, it’s done by removing ½-inch cores (those plugs you sometimes see near a green or in fairways) from the compacted soil, allowing for an infusion of air and water that brings a resurgence of growth. The spaces are then filled with sand “topdressing” that helps the soil retain air space and makes it easier for roots to grow downward.

Aerate in fall or spring, when the grass is actively growing but is not stressed by summer heat. As a rule of thumb, you should aerate your lawn every other year. Those lawns with very heavy traffic or those growing in heavy clay soil may need aerating more often.

  • (< 1/4 acre)  $85

  • (1/4 to 1/2 acre)  $85 to $105

  • (1/2 to 1 acre) $105 to $165

  • Blowing leaves off the grass before aerating. $45 per hour.

  • Over-seeding ( Annual Ryegrass or Fescue ) from $125.

  • Homes in zones 3 & 4 on the service area page, add $5 to $10 more for gas surcharge.

De-thatching: Over time, lawns accumulate thatch. Thatch is a layer of slowly decomposing grass, dead roots, and other yard debris that’s picked up by your mower and tossed back onto the grass.  The accumulation of thatch over time prevents water and other nutrients from getting through to the roots of your lawn. Accumulation of thatch, like the compacted soil, also gives insects a great place to hide. Thatch should be kept at 1/2 or less.

Starts @ $75, plus disposal fee for dumping debris . Debris removal from your property  $135 (labor + dumping fees) per trailer load (6' x 12' X 4' trailer loads).
